Why it works
You do not need ten steps. You need five, layered thinnest to thickest, on skin that's still damp. This is the version I actually keep up with on a weeknight.

Massage a balm or oil onto dry skin for sixty seconds to dissolve SPF and makeup. Emulsify with a little water, then rinse.
A low-pH gel cleanser removes what the oil left behind without stripping. Skin should feel soft, never squeaky.
Press hydrating toner in with your palms — no cotton pad. Damp skin is what lets everything after this absorb properly.
Sara's tip: The '7 skin method' is just this step repeated up to seven times on very dehydrated days.
Snail mucin or a hydrating essence first, then your active (niacinamide for texture, vitamin C in the morning). Thinnest to thickest, always.
A ceramide cream locks the water in. Without this step, everything you layered evaporates and skin ends up drier than when you started.
Korean sunscreens are the reason the routine works. Lightweight, no white cast, reapply at lunch. Glass skin is mostly consistent sun protection.
Sara's tip: Two finger-lengths of product for face and neck. Most people use a third of what they need.
